Summon a beach you lint licker!

You know how After Dark is a place that makes many feel at home? In a virtual world of corsets and alphas, After Dark is my comfy pants. My “Oh my god this bra needs to go and I am totally comfortable taking it off here” happy place. After Dark prides itself on being a place where people can be free to be themselves.

Turns out that when people feel comfortable at a place and with a group of people, the dynamic gets pretty amazing. When people feel comfortable somewhere they tend to let go a little. When people let go, they relax and enjoy themselves. When people are relaxed and enjoying themselves they sometimes push their social filter to the side. When that social filter is pushed to the side people often use adult language. When people use adult language, I feel even more at home….and the cycle continues!

Are you a little confused? Let me put it this way. When people are having a good f**king time at a place where they know they can f**king be themselves they sometimes use words like “f**k”, “sh*t*, “d*mn” or “c*nt”.

There is a real reason for me writing this. Yes, I LOVE to use those words and social filter on or not, I use them. But this is not just an excuse to blog naughty words! NO! I mean F**K NO! This is a way of explaining why some (and some more than others) use adult language at After Dark Lounge. We are all adults there, We are allowed. It will happen. If adult language offends your senses, chances are you are not hanging at After Dark anyway, but if you are and you see a word that gets in your craw, just overlook it and know that there will probably be more where that came from. This is not meant to be said in a b*tchy or snarky way, just stating it like it is!

Long story short…….WE LOVE ADULT WORDS AT AFTER DARK!

Speaking of……we will be celebrating my 10th rez day on Tuesday September 12th with a “C U Next Tuesday” extravaganza! Come help me celebrate being old as f**k in SL!

Good Night, Garrett.

The downside to caring about people and letting them into your life and your heart is that some day you know that you will have to let them go. This past week the Secondlife music community had to do just that. We had to face that fact that one of our own, an avid supporter of live music in SL and a friend to so many was no longer with us.

Even if you did not know Garrett (Lutz) Lockjaw personally, chances are that you had seen him at shows. He was a fixture in the live music scene. usually quiet, lurking in the back, keeping to himself. For as quiet as he seemed in the outside he was equally as goofy and wonderful on the inside. I was lucky to have had the honor of calling him my friend. I ask that you bear with me, as this is not something easy for me to write, and frankly, I could go on for pages and pages with the silly escapades and moments he and I shared, so this might get a little messy, but I promise to not let the train of thought derail too often.

Garrett lived his SL the way everyone should, on his own terms. If he wanted to be goofy, he was goofy. If he wanted to be stalkery, he was stalkery. (Note, this is not in the “I will show up at your house at random and I have been watching you kind of stalkery. It was more of an open stalking, and always with the stalkees consent!) He taught me to “give zero f**ks” and to embrace the awesome of SL. Often I would end up places with him in head to toe latex with him suited up as a Ninja Turtle just dancing our little pixels ragged to amazing music.

The fact that Garrett “give zero f**ks” didn’t mean that he did not care. No. He cared tremendously for those that he loved. Need someone to listen to you complain about crazies? He was there. Need a man to try on women’s hair? Just show him where to get the demo! Looking for awesome new musical talent in SL? He probably already found it but would be excited to share the new discovery. Need to know just how a man can birth a baby? Garrett would gladly lead you on a tour of the male pregnancy sim. There were few limits to the link he would go to for his friends.

Garrett was not only a big fan of live music in SL, he also worked with several musicians and was the groundskeeper for a sim that hosts live music. To be honest, I don’t know who all he worked with through his time in SL. I only met him about 2 years ago. I do know that he worked with Phemie Alcott and Caasi Ansar. Later in his SL he managed J Lively and Hunson Abadeer. When I was first starting to manage Funkyfreddy Republic he was there to help me out and give me pointers based on his experiences. Garrett also looked after the Lockjaw family’s sim Elysium City of Templemore. There he was the master of booking live acts and the best damn groundskeeper a place could ask for. When people would thank him there he would reply “I just cut the grass.”

Garrett never asked for anything. He just wanted to be surrounded by people that he cared for and that cared for him. He will never be far from our thoughts and his spirit will live on in SL. Luis Lockjaw has erected a gorgeous statue at Elysium City of Templemore in honor of Garrett and his carefree, loving spirit. There will be a service in memorial of Garrett at the same sim on Monday September 4, 2017 at 12:00pm SLT. All are welcome to come celebrate the life and good times that Garrett brought to SL.

Garrett and I had many memorable conversations. One such conversation centered around songs to dance to when I was a dancer with Guerilla Burlesque. As he and I had very similar tastes in music I was bouncing ideas off of him and mentioned that I had always wanted to figure a way to dance to a song by Ministry but I was struggling with a concept that would not be offensive.  Garrett then said something that stuck in my head and planted a seed of inspiration. “How do you dance to ‘Drinking the blood of Jesus, drinking it right from his veins’? Because I need to see that” Several months later I made sure he got to see just how someone could dance to that. I will be performing that act at Guerilla Burlesque this Friday September 1, 2017 at 10:00pm SLT.

I would like to end this, not with a goodbye, but with some words I want to say to Garrett.

Garrett, You know how much you mean to those whose lives you touched. I can speak for no one but myself but I need to tell you thank you. Thank you for you. Thank you for making my SL wonderful. Thank you for “turtling up” when I needed a moment of silly. Thank you for always being honest with me about how things were going, even when I knew you were worried about hurting me. Thank you for letting me have the joy of loving such a precious soul. You still owe me a unicorn ride and according to my kids you are already haunting me and I love it. Nothing will ever take you from my heart. I told you I would hang on even when you could not and I stand by that. I love you, Garrett.     ♥ ~Ty

Tent Spankings?

Yes, I know that the title is odd. When you write your blog you can title it whatever you want! Now, before I get into the nuts and the bolts of this entry, I have a beef. Every single birthday that I have celebrated at After Dark has come with the promises of spankings, lots and lots of spankings. Picture people lining up to dish out spankings! Well, once again, the only spankings I got were from Meegan. I am just letting you all know that next year I expect more! You have one year to warm up your spanking skills!

Now that I have THAT out of the way….onto why we are really here!

After Dark through an amazing birthday for both me and Funkyfreddy Republic this past Tuesday. Freddy and I do not share a birthday but his is on the 24th and mine the 25th. Since After Dark is located on Idle Rogue, which is an Aussie sim, we kind of sort of do share a birthday when we are there. If you are thinking my math might be a little sketchy, or my reasoning slightly off then 1. You are wrong and 2. I have brought a graph that proves such.*

Everyone knows that graphs only ever show the truth. You know why? SCIENCE!!

Meegan wanted a theme for the party that would suit both of the guests of honor. It just so happens that I love camping and Freddy is an avid outdoorsman. So what better setting for the festivities than a campsite in the mountains?!? LadyGlory worked her magic and transformed After Dark into a gorgeous outdoor space complete with tents and mountains! There evening was a blast and the music was fantastic! I will stop my fingers from tapping the keyboard and let you see for yourself!

Twinghost kicking off the party!

Max Kleene rocking us!

PT Beardmore refusing to plat the birthday girl’s original request but redeeming himself by playing her 2nd one!

The great outdoors can indoors!

The birthday boy, Mr. Funkyfreddy Republic

Blues Heron wrapping up the fantastic night!

If you were not there, you missed one hell of a party, After Dark is keeping the décor up through this Sunday 1/29 due to the awesome response it received. So come by and check it out. Lounge in the tents. Gaze at the majestic scenery. Love the great outdoors while it is still indoors!

On a personal note, thank you to everyone for the great time that was had Tuesday night. The happy birthdays and well wishes were fantastic. You all sure know how to make a gal feel good!

♥ ~Ty

*Please note there is nothing scientific about this graph. It was just fun to make.

How’d you get here? Vol. 3

you are hereIt is backstory time again! I don’t care where people are going, and I know where they are, I want to know how they ended up here! It is easy to assume what brought the musicians to the SL music scene, but what about the fans? What dragged them away from the giltz and glamour of free sex beaches and the abundance of oddities that SL has to offer? How did they end up at After Dark shaking their pixels to the plethora of amazing artists that grace the stage? Making up stories can be a lot off fun, but it is easier to just ask them, and I did!

HOW METALGEAR666 GOT HERE!

“I was looking for an activity to do with a friend in 2nd life that didn’t include shopping and a DJ and Host. When the search took us to After dark Lounge, Funky Freddy and Oblee were playing together. They sounded cool and it was refreshing to hear live music with mellow but fun attitude. Im a big fan of the loop pedal they use.”

HOW REBECCA DEMBO GOT HERE!

Rebecca Profile 1

“The first live event i went to in SL was when a friend of mine from a role sim invited me to tag along that night as the sim was dead. When i arrived the sim was so laggy and everything grey as there was a ton of people there. but the stream was working so i could hear the music. I was very impressed as i have never heard a live singer in sl before this time. Their set was ending but we had gone there to see Jordan Raynne. I fell in love with live music after that Jordan’s accent was a huge bonus for me. After that i began tagging along anytime i knew Jordan would be playing. I don’t recall the year i think it was in 2010 or 2011, nor do i remember the venue name just that was inside of dark building or something. after Jordan was done there was another singer following her they were good but i had already got hooked by the accent Jordan has.”

HOW ℰძ (edaaulder) GOT HERE!

EDAULDER

“I’m not sure I think my first concert was  Reggie Sunset  at Reggies Road house. I was introudced to sl music by my good friend Gabbi ( Gabrielle Hamelin ) She brought me to a number of shows and showed me the ropes. I then broke off and found my own sec-in. so many singers.. so many venues a wide variey it all depends what mood im in. The second best thing about hearing great singers. is the awesome friendships made.”

Ed did not end there, he gave the nicest unsolicited plug for After Dark and since this is After Dark’s blog, I am posting it!

“My fav venue now is After Dark. The line ups are great. And the people are super. A good venue  you  feel at home.. here i feel at home. Meegan……and the others make After Dark  Home for me..”

There seems to be no better note to end the post on than that!

Ty’s Choice Awards 2016!!

Disclaimer:
This is not meant to belittle the Avi Choice Awards. Like everything else that I write, this is written in the spirit of silliness and fun!

TCALadies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! Children of all ages!

Oh wait….wrong pomp for the circumstance!

**DRUMROLL**

Booming announcer voice: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the second annual Ty’s Choice Awards! And now…your hostess with the mostest, Tyche Szondi!”

Thank you disembodied booming voice! Welcome everyone to the second annual Ty’s Choice Awards! Can you believe it has already been a year? Can you believe that I have been permitted by management to host again this year?!?

Speaking of management, we are thrilled to have the marvelous Meegan Danitz in attendance this year, Following last year’s series of “wardrobe malfunctions” she has decided to make sure that nothing of that nature will occur this year. I am sure you all got a good look at her on the red carpet, I honestly did not know that someone could look so stunning in a full length mumu! mumumeegan

Ahhh……Ty’s Choice….MY Choice…the only award that is given completely arbitrarily based on the opinion of one person, There is not panel of judges, there is no selection committee, there is just me and whatever strikes my fancy! It happens to be my most favorite awards show of the year, and I hope it is in at least your top ten!

But I digress! Some of the awards require a bit of explanation this year, Why you ask? Because I happen to like catchy names and when one fits and makes sense in my head I realize that it might not make so much sense to everyone else. If they do immediately make sense to you, you might want to seek professional help! Oh! And for those of you who are paying attention, you might have noticed that the award itself has changed this year. I certainly think it is a better representation of the award’s namesake!

On with the show!

As was the format last year, I will not be boring you with long-winded attempts at making you laugh or over produced musical numbers. We are here to find out who won!  Now, When you read the list you need to read them in an announcer’s voice. “And the TCA for ________ goes to_____!” Extra points if you read them aloud, in public and get strange looks from people around you!

winnerThe Bipolar Set Award (Best at taking you from laughing to tearing up in the matter of a song.) : SaraMarie Philly

The “Caution! Wet Floor!” Award (Because sometimes that voice requires the use of added safety measures!): Twinghost Ronas

The Sharing the “Love” Award (Given for the silliest/dirtiest/funniest “love” song dedications.): Vinnie “The Vinnie Show”

The “SURPRISE!” Award (Most likely to refuse to play a song for over a year then whip it out (the song you perverts!) for someone’s birthday): PT Beardmore

The “Lost in Space” Award (Most likely to get on a tangent and lose track of time): Funkyfreddy Republic

The In Absentia Award (Most Likely to Play While Crashed) : Lyndon Heart

The Snuggle Humper (Most Likely to Elicit Snuggle Humps From Meegan): Roxy Paradox

The “Nothing is Safe” Award (Most Likely to Read IM’s aloud during her set): Rara Destiny

congratulations-4308

Let’s hear a round of applause for all of our winners! Remember, there are not losers at After Dark Lounge…..well, there was that one guy that one time, but that is what the “block” feature is for!

The after party is calling and the booze is flowing. I must apologize for the lack of red carpet pictures this year. It came down to hire a photographer or have an open bar and I think that we can all agree which if the more important of the two!

Much love and many congratulations!

~Ty

Happy New Year!

Boo! The scary kind, not the bummer kind!

creepy1

This past Tuesday After Dark partied hard in honor of the day that creepy is favored to normal, the macabre is celebrated and when many women will wear far less clothing in the midst of fall than they would wear on the beach in the middle of a sweltering summer. You guessed it, HALLOWEEN!!!

Frankenghost Ronas started the night off, proving that just because you are a hulking beast who is some level of undead does not mean that you cannot have a smooth set of pipes! Steely Deskeleton us into the second hour with smooth guitar sounds that lead me to believe boney fingers make for good guitar playing! The third hour took us on a spooky trip with Funkyfreddy Roarpublic who insisted that his cuddly lion mask was actually for kinky playtime! Oblee the Bunny rounded out the evening with his looptastic goodness, and even though he is already a puppet, he still showed up in costume!

LadyGlory did an amazing job, as always, with her spooktastic décor! I am not completely sure, but I think on of the plants she had out was trying to eat me. Prizes were awarded each hour for the best costume and the crowd brought their A-game! Once again, the After Dark photographer dropped the ball and did not manage to capture a damn thing….lucky for us, Rebecca Dembo was there and is a picture taking machine! A big thank you to her for letting us use her butt slappin’ good pictures!

COSTUME CONTEST WINNERS

Cricket Anomaly won the first hour. Not only was her costume amazing along with Jericho’s but she managed to embrace the role play of it all and stayed on her knees for nearly the entire first hour!

Hour two went to the lovely Theadee who was the perfect combination of spooky and sexy….spexy!!

The third hour’s prize went to Erik and Aurri Dragoone who made being green look easy!

The final hour went to the delightfully demonic MiA (miasachi)!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out in costume to join us, you all were really impressive and made choosing the winners VERY difficult! In case you missed the party, here are a few more shots of the excellent time we had!

They’re Baaaaack!

You might have noticed that the stage at After Dark was very quiet this week. At least we hope that you noticed! After Dark was extra dark this week because Meegan and Tyche were tearing it up at BURN2, Guerilla Burlesque style!

camp roguery_001

                                                                 Roguery Camp

It was wonderful to see many of our After Dark regulars out and about on the playa, enjoying everything that BURN2 has to offer, and especially at the shows that we were performing in! If you did not get a chance to make it to BURN2 this year, you owe it to your self to make it next year. It is unlike anything else in Secondlife and it definitely needs to be experienced first hand as pictures and retellings do not do it justice! Speaking of pictures, perhaps you would enjoy seeing some of what Meegan and Ty were up to.

The photographer for After Dark’s blog failed pretty miserably at getting pictures of the live performers, but in her defense she did have a LOT on her plate this past week. Cut her some slack! After Dark regulars Voodoo Shilton, Funkyfreddy Republic, Saramarie Philly and Twinghost Ronas all gifted their music to BURN2…….yet the only picture that slacker photog managed to get was this one! TGBURN_005In addition to the live music and the stage shows there were tons of other events that took place at Roguery Camp. Interactive dance sessions, themed parties that included Tutu Tuesday and Corsets and Cigars and loads of other good times! Just a few more pics of the good times for those who missed it. Not to rub it in or anything, but yea, it was awesome!

So that is where the week went and why the stage at After Dark was silent, aside from a third of a Saramarie Philly set when they decided to restart the sim! But like the title says “They’re baaaaack!”. And what do you think of when you hear that? It had better be Poltergeist! Halloween is right around the corner and we will be celebrating it at After Dark this Tuesday starting at 7pm! Throw on your best Halloween garb and have a chance at winning prizes that will be awarded each hour! Four hours of live music featuring Twinghost, Steely Decosta, Funkyfreddy, and Oblee! Come to welcome us back from BURN2 and scare the pants off us*!

*There are no guarantees that the staff of After Dark will be wearing pants.

Points of Interest

If you look to your left you will see a house that contains a bathroom in which some half famous person once used the commode and did not wash their hands. Oh, my bad, I thought I was supposed to point out random points of interest!  Moving on……

IT’S FRIDAY!!!!!!

If you are a regular at After Dark Lounge, chances are that you know what many a Friday night in SL means. Guerilla Burlesque at the Acuo Theater on Idle Rogue!! Tonight the amazing talent of the troupe will be giving you two shows! One at 7pm and the other at midnight. The shows are not the same, I repeat, NOT THE SAME.

GB Oods

Eye candy for the ladies….

If you have never been to a Guerilla Burlesque performance, you need to reevalute your priorities. Also, you should probably try and make it tonight. Every show at GB (inside lingo, all the cool kids are using it) is remarkable. Each act is built by the dancers. From the concept, to the costuming to the choreography, to the set. It is a labor of love and it is nothing short of breathtaking. This week they will be welcoming Oodlemi Noodle (the hot piece of eye candy featured above) back to the stage at the 7pm show. After Dark Lounge’s very own Dark Phaeton will also be performing in the 7pm show, so there will be loads of eye candy for the ladies!

GB Ty and Deb

…and the gentleman!

At the midnight show they will be debuting a new dancer who will be performing to a song by one of the After Dark Lounge’s regular musicians! You might know her. She writes a blog, has a foul mouth, is crazy adorable…….but I am not going to tell you who it is! Meegan will also be performing in an act at the midnight show! Long story short, you kind of need to just come to both. Oh! And get there early! The theater can fill up pretty early!

One last thing before I leave you to your weekend. Please do not forget that After Dark Lounge will be having their monthly theme night this upcoming Thrusday, starting at 6pm! The theme is Saturday Night Live and we want to see you dressed as your favorite character from the show! Prizes will be given out each hour for the best dressed in the theme!
