What a year!

happy-new-year-2015Bring on 2015!!

But first we need to bid a fond adieu to 2014. I know it was on hell of a year for me, and I hope that it was equally eventful or uneventful for you, depending on how you like things! Everyone spends time reflecting on what the past year has brought. I am no different. Well, I guess a bit different. I am pretty dang new to the After Dark family, so I have decided that I will do a bit of a retrospective of the past year at After Dark, but I am going to make up the events prior to when I started to actually pay attention to things! All those months I was just a person hanging in the crowd, listening to good tunes and paying zero attention to anything else, yep, I am making up awesomeness for that time!

2014 started off with a bang, literally. How could anyone forget LG accidentally setting off those fireworks inside the club on New Year’s Eve?!? Poor Reknard still has a scar in an unmentionable place! But if you ask him he might mention it! Thankfully all it took was a little sanding and repainting and all evidence of the minor fire was gone! (Hehe…then I reread that an realized it sounds kind of like there was sanding and repainting of Rek.There was not, but I think it is funny so I am leaving it there!)

Then there was the Valentine’s Day fiasco! I am sure that if Cori had known that the Valentine’s cards she was sending out to everyone contained such lewd images and crude language she would have found some that were far, far more lewd and crude. What is Valentine’s without extreme close-ups of naughty parts and word that would make an experienced madam blush?

Oh my God! And the rabbits! Those damn, damn rabbits! If you were not there, let me just tell you, the term “f**king like bunnies” exists for a reason! Dark had the best intentions, he really did! Ivy had always loved rabbits and it seemed like the perfect thing to give her for Easter. What was not so perfect was failing to make sure they were of the same sex and keeping them in the back of the club before the big reveal! Baby rabbits everywhere! So…much…poop!

reproduce-demotivational-poster-1214399916Summer brought warmer weather to After Dark and less clothing too. Especially for Portia! Poor thing! I do not think she will ever wear a bikini top to After Dark again! Either she was bumped or someone wanted to get a closer look at the goods and pulled her strings, but either way, there she stood, dancing away in the middle of the club, welcoming people kindly, and topless as all get out! It was only a matter of minutes before she noticed, but she sure noticed that not a one of the patrons at After Dark bothered to point it out to her. I suppose they were just enjoying the show! On a related note, that night brought in more tips for After Dark than ever!

It seems the patrons of After Dark enjoy a good side show to accompany the awesome music they are grooving to. I know you all remember the night that Meegan could not keep it in the right box and we all got to see a side of her that might have best been kept private. She wanted him to put what where? Honestly I did not even know that was a thing people did until I read it in local chat that night. Not to mention I still don’t see why that would have required her to stand on her head or where that , but hey, who am I to judge? We have all put the wrong words in the wrong box before, but is sure as shit is funny when someone else does it!

David_Buckingham_Super_Freak_5084_395The fake part of the year was pretty amazing, wasn’t it? The fake part had NOTHING on the real fun that was had at After Dark. So much good music, so many silly moments, just all around goodness! I won’t bore you with things you have already read about in the blog, but I will point you in their general direction!
The later part of this year at After Dark brought us:
a celebration of BonBon’s birthday
a nest build-off of epic proportions
a silly new game
two unique nights of Christmas celebrations
and so so much more!

I want to impart a touch of mush here for a second, and since I am writing this, I CAN! This past year in SL has been the best year I have had in my 7 years here. All of that has to do with the people that I have met this past year, including the phenomenal staff at After Dark and the musicians who grace the stage there. Thank you all for, well, everything!

Ok, enough of that crap!

2014 was indeed a kick ass year at After Dark. We would like to thank all of the artists who have grooved and rocked that stage! Another big thank you goes out to all of the people who come out to support the artists and the venue. It gets said a lot, but it is so true, your support is what keeps live music alive in SL. We have a New Year’s gift at the club, made by our own LadyGlory! I hear tell he will fly you home on New Year’s Eve if you have too much to drink!

This Little guy needs a home!!! He's sooo cute you can't resist and he's FREE!!!!! He is a After Dark Original Exclusive and a one time offer . All you need to do is stop in at After Dark between now and Jan 4th .

Tell Ty!

everyone-seems-normal-until-you-get-to-know-them Wanna play a game? Or better yet, wanna watch others play a game?  You know darn well you do! It is going to be awesome, trust me!

You know that awkward phase when you first come to or return to SL? The “What the hell do I do with my time” phase?
We have all been there and done that. I got lucky and met a really cool “dood” (his word, not mine!) not long after my return to SL and he taught me a game that I have since played with many a person I meet in SL. He and I would sit on a rail in a somewhat questionable sim and people watch and play this game for hours.

This game is a great way to find out things about another person. It is also a really fun way to get a glimpse into how another person’s mind works. Three simple statements that require a reply. No clarification or follow up allowed, just the answers as they are given.

1. Tell me something random.
2. Tell me something you think I should know about you.
3. Tell me something that not everyone know about you.

Tell-Me-Something-GoodI decided this would be a great way to get to know a little more about the staff and regular artists who grace the stage at After Dark. Thankfully they are all awesome and were more than willing to participate. Some more willing than others, but I am nothing if not persistent! I will be featuring a few sets of replies each week in a piece I like to call Tell Ty.  All answers are posted exactly as they were given by the participants.

Frets Nirvana

I am starting this off with Frets Nirvana, mostly because his reply to number 3 has me intrigued!

1. Tell me something random. – Life is Too Short for One Groove!
2. Tell me something you think I should know about you. – I was once marketing director for Gibson Guitar.
3. Tell me something that not everyone know about you.  – I have a secret about something stupid I did recently …but I will not tell until January 1, 2015!  So stay tuned!

Now, as the rules state, there is no follow up allowed to the replies given, but you all know you are wondering about that number 3 reply as much as I am!

The incorrigible Miss Cori

Next up we have The Incorrigible Miss Cori, co-owner of After Dark. Her reply to the first statement nearly made me spit water onto my screen when I read it.

1. Tell me something random.
I read today that snakes have two penises. I’m terrified of snakes yet this fascinates me.

2. Tell me something you think I should know about you.
I was a phone sex operator for 13 years.  I still work in the adult industry as a web designer and SEO marketing agent.

3. Tell me something that not everyone know about you.
I have done just about everything “career” wise in SL: musician, manager, venue owner, game host, DJ, dancer .. I’ve pretty much run the gambit and I think it’s given me a very well rounded SL experience.

See how awesome this is? Not only do you get to know about the staff and artists, but you get to learn about the oddities of the animal world!

Joel Eilde of Red Heaven

Joel Eilde of Red Heaven

Rounding out the first installment of Tell Ty is Joel  Eilde of Red Heaven. He had the privilege (or disadvantage, depending on whether you are a cup half full or half empty kind of person) of being the first artist I dropped this on and he played the game just as it should be played. Immediate answers, no over thinking.

1. Tell me something random.
I hate black licorice but I love anise.

2. Tell me something you think I should know about you.
I believe the world is one country and mankind its citizens.

3. Tell me something that not everyone know about you.
I’m fluent in American Sign Language and used to work as an interpreter.

I really hope that you all enjoy these little nuggets of insight as much as I do! There will be many more to come!
